Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
One Tool Among Many

CBT Therapy
Therapists who treat patients with CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) often learned the "basics" in the Master's degree, which is based on a psychodynamic approach. Only later, do they added to their knowledge with another approach through courses or another Masters—CBT. We use principles and skillsets gained from CBT, though we are not "CBT Therapists" with our clients. We don't follow strict CBT protocols and have not undergone training outside of masters' levels courses.
What Does the Research Say?
Research shows that CBT is most effective with anxiety and depression. It is less effective with schizophrenia, chronic pain, and personality disorders.

How We Use CBT in Our Practice
CBT is a fantastic way to frame how our thoughts, feelings, and behaviours are linked (sometimes without us even knowing). In situations when we simply don't understand what happened and why we reacted so strongly, CBT is helpful to discover the structure behind our behaviour.
